Blog > 10 Ways to Soak Up the Ultimate Davis County Summer (A Local’s Guide)
There is a distinct kind of magic that settles over Davis County when summer finally rolls around. It’s the feeling of warm patio nights, slow Sundays spent browsing local shelves, catching the sunset over the Great Salt Lake, and filling up your week with things that just make you happy to live here.
Whether you’ve lived in Northern Utah your whole life or you’re completely new to the area, there is always something new to discover.
To help you maximize the sunny days ahead, I’ve put together my ultimate, hand-curated Top 10 Local’s Guide to Summer in Davis County. From my absolute hometown favorites right here in Syracuse to can't-miss county hotspots, pack your sunglasses and let's dive in!
1. The Thursday Night Tradition: Bountiful Farmers Market
Nothing says summer quite like fresh-cut flowers, artisan crafts, and the smell of local produce. For the absolute best market buzz in the county, head down to the Bountiful Town Square on Thursday nights. Grab dinner from a food truck, enjoy the live community music, and stock up on the freshest local goods under the sunset.
Where: 75 E 200 S, Bountiful
When: Thursday evenings (June – October)
2. The Summer Lifesaver: Fiiz Drinks
Forget traditional hot coffee when it hits 90 degrees—Utah summer survival requires a dirty soda. Hit up our local favorite, Fiiz, for custom-mixed sodas, epic flavor shots, and the perfect afternoon pick-me-up snacks. Personally, I can never say no to a Changler Bing but the people I love choose Chubby Boy or a Captain Jack!
Where: Multiple Davis County locations (including Syracuse!)
3. The Double-Feature Brunch: Plated Dreams & First Watch
Why choose just one brunch spot when we have two absolute powerhouses?
If you want a chic, beautifully curated, and highly aesthetic experience (think velvet pancakes and artisan mocktails), head to Plated Dreams in Woods Cross. Every plate is a genuine work of art.
Looking for fresh, bright, and modern breakfast classics? The newly opened First Watch in Layton is officially here and entirely worth the hype. Do yourself a favor and order the Million Dollar Bacon and a glass of their fresh-squeezed morning juice.
Where: Plated Dreams (Woods Cross) | First Watch (Layton)
4. Style Refresh: Love Olive Co. & Twirl Boutique
Ready to update your summer wardrobe? Skip the major department chains and support local business. Love Olive Co. in Layton is a beautifully curated women’s boutique filled with high-quality, trendy pieces and the most welcoming staff. For beautiful, feminine summer dresses and standout accessories perfect for a date night, make a stop at Twirl Boutique in Kaysville.

5. The Weekend Hangout: Roosters Brewing Co.
When the weekend hits and you're looking for great food, cold drinks, and an amazing patio vibe, Roosters in Layton is the premier gathering place. It's family-friendly, boasts an expansive menu, and serves up locally brewed favorites like the Naughty John IPA. It's the ultimate spot to unwind after a long summer week.
Where: 748 W Heritage Park Blvd, Layton
6. The Nature Escape: Adams Canyon Trail
Ditch the paved neighborhood paths for an iconic local wilderness adventure. Lace up your sneakers or hiking boots and head up Adams Canyon in Layton. The trail takes you through beautiful shaded woods and rewards you with a stunning, chilly 40-foot waterfall at the end. It's a challenging climb but worth every single step.
Where: East Layton (Trailhead off US-89)
7. Date Night Perfected: Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar
Whether you’re planning a romantic evening or a girls' night out, Twigs at Station Park is always the answer. Snag a table out on the beautiful patio right next to the fountains, order up their legendary garlic fries, an artisan pizza, and pair it with a signature huckleberry martini.
Where: Station Park, Farmington
8. For the Book Lovers: The Hollow
We are experiencing a major independent bookstore renaissance right now, and I am here for it!
Step into a world of pure magic at The Hollow: An Enchanted Bookshop, a gorgeous new indie gem right here in Syracuse. It’s a serene sanctuary for fiction and fantasy fans, and you have to keep an eye out for their community "Book Bedazzling" craft nights.
If you love a classic, endless treasure hunt, head over to Eborn Books in Layton. It’s a massive space packed with a sprawling selection of new, used, rare, and out-of-print titles where you can easily lose track of time.
Where: The Hollow (Syracuse)
9. Sun & Shade: Jensen Nature Park & Barnes Park
Need a perfect afternoon outdoors? We have two incredible options. Right in our Syracuse backyard, Jensen Nature Park is a peaceful oasis with paved walking trails, a gorgeous pond to feed the ducks, and great spots to launch a kayak. If you have a big family gathering or a playdate on the horizon, Barnes Park in Kaysville offers massive shaded pavilions, playgrounds, and beautiful creekside paths.

10. Sweet Nostalgia: Thurgood Creamery
There is absolutely nothing better after a hot summer day than an ultra-premium, hand-crafted scoop of ice cream. Head over to Thurgood Creamery right in front of the Syracuse movie theater. It's family-owned, serves up vintage nostalgia vibes, and boasts nationally award-winning flavors (trust me, try the Heifer’s Revenge). They also have incredible allergy-friendly and dairy-free options so everyone can join the fun!
